PRLog - May 7, 2014 - KENT, Ohio -- Brewing Entrepreneurship, hosted by the Kent State University College of Business Administration chapter of the Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ Organization (CEO), gave students the chance to pitch their products and services in a real-world business environment.
There was a total of 55 attendees, including students, College of Business Administration faculty and staff, local entrepreneurs and business owners.
Kent State College of Business Administration students, Brian Bowles, junior entrepreneurship major; Marc Carney, senior business management major; Robin Bonatesta, junior fashion merchandising and computer science major, pitched their business ideas for the crowd, who then voted for their favorite idea. Bowles was the winner with his business, Blackwolf Tactical, which focuses on combat simulation for military and government training programs.
“Anytime we are able to showcase some of our student entrepreneurial businesses to the community is very rewarding, and the students who presented did an amazing job,” said Brandon Ritchey, CEO president and junior business administration major.
The featured speaker of the event was Ryan Holmes, founder of MadCap Brew Co. in Stow, Ohio. Holmes shared his insight, challenges and experiences as an entrepreneur with a day job and a family.
Rick Schultz, CEO of Spectrum Surgical, spoke about what it takes to build a successful nine-figure business and to continue to thrive in the business world.
“CEO is grateful for the support it received, not only from the College of Business Administration, but also from the community as a whole,” said Ritchey. “We were very pleased with the success of the event, and we plan to host another Brewing Entrepreneurship event in the fall.”
Kent State CEO is a nationally-affiliated student organization. CEO fosters the development of entrepreneurial skills in its members. Mentoring sessions are held with outside business leaders, instructors and entrepreneurs who lead lectures, question and answer sessions and workshops to build students' understanding of the entrepreneurial experience.
