College of Business Administration’s Business Fraternity to Host Sales Career Fair

PRLog - Oct. 7, 2013 - KENT, Ohio -- Pi Sigma Epsilon, the professional fraternity in the College of Business Administration specializing in the advancement of marketing and management professionals, will host their first ever Sales Career Fair Wednesday, Oct. 9 in the Kent State University Ballroom from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Ryan Egle, PSE president, said the event is free to sophomores, juniors, seniors and alumni.

Twenty companies are expected, including: Aerotek, Fastenal, Fathom, Group Management Services, New York Life Insurance, Northwestern Mutual, Pepperl + Fuchs, Tom James Clothiers, Total Quality Logistics, Enterprise, Construction Mechanics, the Daily Kent Stater and American Income Life Ohio.

“This career fair is a great opportunity for students to network with companies who are actually looking for potential sales employees,” Egle said.

The goal is to provide resume-building and networking experience for sales and marketing students as well as job opportunities. Students can also pay $1 to get a LinkedIn profile picture taken in the photo booth at the event.

Students should dress in business attire and bring multiple copies of an updated resume.

Proceeds from corporate involvement will send fraternity members to compete in the Pro-Am Sell-A-Thon regional and national sales competition and conference presented by Pi Sigma Epsilon national headquarters.

The Sell-A-Thon requires student teams to compete in a mock sales presentation. Students learn about a product, train with sales advisors and are scored on their sales approach.

The competition is only part of the conference where students mingle with sales professionals and discuss selling and leadership tactics.  This year’s regional competition will be held in Toledo, Ohio, and the national competition will take place in Miami, Fla.
