College of Business Administration’s Director of Academic Programs Wins Greek Award

PRLog - May 7, 2014 - KENT, Ohio -- Nicole Kotlan, Academic Programs Director for Kent State’s College of Business Administration was award the 2013-2014 Outstanding Faculty/Staff Advisor of the Year at the 2014 Greek Closing Ceremonies on April 29.

Kotlan was selected through a nomination process on behalf of the Greek chapters then reviewed by a panel of five judges who select the final award recipients. Kotlan was one of two recipients of the Advisor of the Year award for this year.

“I am honored to receive this recognition from the University for my Role as Campus Advisor for Delta Zeta Sorority - Gamma Kappa chapter.   I knew when I started working at Kent State University in 2010 that I wanted to volunteer my time in working with a Greek organization and ‘give back’ to the Greek community as I had an amazing undergraduate Greek experience,” Kotlan said.

Kotlan said the Delta Zeta Sorority was a natural fit from the start: the members of the Kent State’s Delta Zeta Sorority are a joy to work with as they strive for academic excellence in addition to being so gracious in enriching their lives and the community.

“I look forward to what the future holds in working with the chapter.”

Kotlan was nominated by Taylor Winter, Delta Zeta member.

“I have worked with Nicole one on one and she also promotes Greek Life in such a positive light. She wants all of her students that she helps succeed and find their passions, like I have,” Winter wrote in her nomination. “She knows how to be an effective leader and mentor to our chapter. I cannot thank her enough for all that she has given Gamma Kappa. She is always actively participating as a campus contact for Delta Zeta.”

Kotlan assists the member of Delta Zeta with classes, scheduling, assists with the Academics Chair, and helps cultivate ideas for programming events.

The Greek Closing Ceremonies is the end-of-the-year banquet for the Fraternity and Sorority community at Kent State University and an opportunity to recognize members for their achievements throughout the school year in academics, civic engagement, involvement and leadership.

Sarah Delury, Grad Appointee in the English Department, was the other recipient of the Outstanding Faculty/Staff Award alongside Kotlan.
