Kent State Executive MBA Alumni is Finalist for Crain’s Cleveland Business Archer Awards

Karen Kaminski is a finalist for theHR Executive of the Year being awarded by Crain’s Cleveland Business Archer Awards to be presented on August 11, 2015, at the Cleveland InterContinental Hotel.

Kaminski received her Executive MBA in 2009 from Kent State University’s College of Business Administration.  She is currently vice president of Human Resources at the Horseshoe Casino in downtown Cleveland owned by Caesars Entertainment.  Kaminski is responsible for leading human resources at the casino as well as ThistleDown Racino in North Randall.  Her duties include oversight of employee and labor relations, talent acquisition, learning and development, team member engagement, benefits and wellness and community relations.

Prior to Caesars, Kaminski worked at Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores, headquartered in Hudson, Ohio, where she helped lead and grow the human resources function over a 10-year period.  During two tenures with the company, she championed training, ethics, workforce planning, store openings, policy and procedure development and labor relations.

Kaminski, a native Clevelander, earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Cleveland State University and a juris doctorate degree from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law.

In 2013, Kaminski was the Executive in Residence for Kent State’s Executive MBA program and taught the Legal and Social Impact of Managerial Decision Making course to the EMBA on-site corporate class at Babcock & Wilcox located in Barberton, Ohio.
