Aeronautics Safety Conference
The Aeronautics Safety Conference connects students and aeronautics industry experts in an all-day networking event that takes place 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., April 11 at the Kent State University Student Center. The Keynote speaker will present at the KIVA at 5 p.m.
This conference unites industry experts, students and academics as they talk about their experiences flying and operating aircraft. Learn how professionals work to guarantee human and aircraft safety. Lectures and Q & A sessions fill the day while the evening’s nationally recognized keynote speaker, Nicole Mitchell, will begin her session in the evening. Light refreshments will be available.
Mitchell is an Air Force trained meteorologist, who holds degrees in Speech-Communications and Law. She has worked as a television meteorologist for the Weather Channel and Al Jazeera America, in addition to other meteorology roles nationwide.
She served as a hurricane expert, travel analyst and aviation expert for the Weather Channel, along with broadcast forecasting. She has been interviewed as a weather expert by numerous media outlets including WeatherNation, CNN, FOX and CBS.
Mitchell served with the National Guard as a forecaster for flying operations, including real-world deployments and missions. In her current role, she’s a Weather Officer for the Hurricane Hunters and flies into tropical systems including Katrina, Harvey, and Irma to determine storm center and intensity.
