CAE Professor Designs Virtual Reality Flight Simulator
Chang-Geun Oh, Ph.D., assistant professor in the Aviation Human Factors in Aeronautics Program, along with his student provide a demonstration of Oh’s creation - the first research purpose-flight simulator, which is housed in the Human Centered Aviation Systems lab (HuCAS). This simulator integrates a virtual reality (VR) system (Oculus Rift) and a motion-based simulator frame. X-Plane flight simulation software provides Cessna 172 with Garmin G1000 system. Kent State students and certified flight instructors who train using Cessna 172 aircraft, provided feedback to Oh in order to modify the tool and maximize its potential.
