Foundry Student Chad Soukup Receives $2,000 Scholarship
College of Aeronautics and Engineering student Chad Soukup received a $2,000 scholarship from
Southwest Ohio American Foundry Society (AFS) during the November Foundry Education Foundation
(FEF) College Industry Conference in Chicago.
The scholarship was awarded for Soukup’s internship experience, collegiate work in Kent State’s foundry technology program, membership and involvement in AFS.
The annual FEF conference, geared toward the metalcasting industry, allows students to meet and
network with more than 100 students representing the top engineering programs across North America.
Issues including communicating technical information, regulatory policy positions on environmental
health and safety, the U.S. Congress, regulators and via AFS publications and media were discussed.
