KSU-AAAE hosts industry expert Archie Vega
The Kent State University student chapter of the American Association of Airport Executives (KSU-AAAE) hosted an aviation-industry leader Monday evening who presented views on current topics in commercial aviation.
Archie Vega, senior manager of maintenance and engineering for Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air at Portland International Airport, was the guest speaker of the College of Aeronautics and Engineering’s student organization, prompting more than 60 student and faculty attendees.
“It was wonderful to host Archie Vega for this presentation, which provided students with an excellent opportunity to learn from his rich history of professional work in aircraft maintenance and engineering,” said I. Richmond Nettey, Ph.D., AAAE faculty advisor. “He has experience in both military aviation with the U.S. Marine Corps and in civil aviation with several major airlines at some of the busiest and largest airports in the United States.”
The student group’s next professional development activity is a field trip to Pittsburgh International Airport (PIA) on October 26, where they’ll learn from industry professionals in action. Travel + Leisure named PIA a Top 10 Domestic Airport in 2016.
