Gina Livingston-Smith, IIDA, EDAC, LEED AP is a certified interior designer who has dedicated her career to environments for health and healing. This mission began early on, while serving clients such as Cincinnati Children’s and the American Cancer Society. Ms. Livingston-Smith practiced at Boulder Associates Architects for 12 years, during which time she piloted the firm’s design research program, led in-house operational initiatives, and built a relationship with the non-profit organization, Planetree. She recently returned to Ohio to accept a position with NBBJ in Columbus, where she engages on projects as a subject matter expert in patient/family/staff experience and its intersection with the built environment and lean processes. Her clients have ranged from community health centers for the underserved to acclaimed academic medical centers such as Massachusetts General Hospital and UPMC. Her model for the design of human-centered spaces employs her combined passions for human factors, evidence-based design, process improvement strategies, and optimal stakeholder experience. She has presented at Healthcare Design and the Planetree International Conference on Person-Centered Care. She earned her BA in interior design from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and her Master of Interior Architecture from the University of Oregon School of Architecture & Allied Arts. In her free time, Ms. Livingston-Smith enjoys hiking, birding, and visiting the beautiful Rocky Mountain West.
