Archigram Visits Kent State

April 2016

CAED hosted Dennis Crompton and the Archigram Visits Kent State exhibit April 7, 2017. Crompton’s lecture Archigram: At Work was delivered to a full audience of students, alumni, and friends of CAED. While here, Crompton also participated in student critiques and met with Graduate Students and the Dean’s Advisory Board, giving them a chance to dialogue with a master.

The exhibit, featuring the Archigram Opera, will remain in the Armstrong Gallery until May 15, 2017, open to all.

1,000 Miles Around the Greatest of Lakes

Masters of Landscape Architecture students spent five days investigating 1,000 miles of the Lake Erie Basin through Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana. Their studio class is exploring watershed issues including soil and farming conservation, storm water wetlands, urban storm water management, green infrastructure, dune ecology, coastal wetlands, watershed-focused municipalities and non-profits, lake tourism, shipping, and coastal protection. Learn more about our Graduate Landscape Architecture programs here

Artwork Vitalizes CAED Workspace

Darrel and Nancy Seibert’s long relationship with CAED dates back to the 1950s when they met in art class! A renowned painter, Nancy has generously loaned a series of her works to CAED. The inspired artworks fit the building perfectly.

CAED Alumnus Recognized for Reuse Project

Congratulations to Michael Antenora, class of 1987, for his firm’s applauded adaptive re-use of a mid-century agri-industrial structure, “The Cotton Gin at the Co-op.” Antenora Architects LLP has won several awards for the project, 2016 Texas Society of Architects Design Award.

First FabLAB Production

The first project created in our new fabrication laboratory is a thin-shell catenary surface experiment utilizing burlap and quickcrete. This marks the beginning of what is to come from our new digital/non-digital maker facility at the new CAED.


Inaugural CAED Gallery Show

September 22, 2016

Now through October, the CAED Gallery features the artworks of CAED alumnus, CEO of Ware Malcomb and artist, Lawrence Armstrong. As an important venue for peer-reviewed experimentation and knowledge production, the gallery will feature student and faculty projects, site-specific installations, traveling exhibitions, design competitions and other curated events that expand the CAED’s audiences and partnerships. It provides a provocative public forum for design discourse and dissemination.

Come and see the gallery space featuring Larry Armstrong’s work at the Grand Opening on October 7.
