Insurance and Billing

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is committed to bringing accessible and affordable health care to students of Kent State University.  We bill health insurance carriers directly for any services provided to you by our licensed clinicians.  Prior to any initial appointment, please contact your insurance provider to verify network coverage and obtain a pre-authorization number for approved sessions if required.

Payment is expected at the time of service.  University Health Services accepts cash, check, VISA, Mastercard, DISCOVER, and Flashcard.  Any unpaid charges will be remitted to the client's Student Account.

For students who do not have health insurance, Counseling and Psychological Services offers a self-pay rate. Students may also apply for financial care assistance by completing the Care Assistance Program Application (PDF) and returning it to UHS Central Billing Office. If you have questions, please contact the Central Billing Office at 330-672-8251. No student will be turned away if they cannot pay for services.

Due to the high demand for our services, we kindly ask that at least 24 hour notice be provided if a student is unable to keep an appointment.  A $20 fee will be incurred when a student fails to attend a scheduled appointment or does not provide at least 24 hour notice of a cancellation.  This fee will be billed to the client's Student Account.

Additional questions regarding billing, payment information, and the financial policy should be directed to University Health Services' Insurance and Billing Office at 330-672-8251.
