Department Welcomes Dr. Jacob Shelley

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry welcomes Dr. Jacob Shelley, a new Assistant Professor specializing in Analytical Chemistry.  Professor Shelley joins us beginning Spring 2014.

Professor Shelley earned his Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from Indiana University, and he subsequently worked as a postdoctoral associate with Professor R. Graham Cooks at Purdue University.  He was awarded an Alexander von Humboldt Postdoctoral Fellowship to work with Professors Uwe Karst and Carsten Engelhard at the University of Muenster (Germany).  Dr. Shelley has also collaborated with researchers at Los Alamos National Laboratory.

Dr. Shelley's research interests lie in the areas of mass spectrometry instrumentation, development and fundamental characterization of plasma-based ionization sources, and exploring portable, real-time methods of analysis.
