LIFE Program: learning community for single parents

As a single parent, your life goal might be to go back to college and get your degree. We get that this is a stressful process. That's why the Center for Adult and Veteran Services offers Literacy and Independence for Family Education (LIFE). Through this program, you can study and learn with other single parents. Special services such as workshops and help accessing family resources assist you with the task of being a student-parent. You can be successful with the right support.

The LIFE program provides resources to help balance your busy schedule and support you academically. Eligible students can receive a small scholarship each semester to help with expenses.

You can join the LIFE program if you:

  • Take classes at least part-time
  • Have a minimum G.P.A. of 2.0
  • Are admitted to Kent State University main campus as an undergraduate student

If you're ready to provide a better future for your children and want to explore opportunity in college, consider the LIFE program at Kent State. Complete the LIFE application or contact Scott Crawford at to get started today.
