Implementation of LGBTQ+ Non-Discrimination Ordinance

Kent City Council will be discussing the implementation of a LGBTQ+ non-discrimination ordinance. State policies are not clear on this issue, and this ordinance would specifically prevent housing discrimination in the city of Kent. Portage County Democratic Socialists of America and Equality Ohio are championing this effort. Tonight’s meeting will be a public forum, and there may be opportunities to give opinions on the housing ordinance and potential expansion of it to other areas, such as employment.

 

NEW Walk a Mile in Their Shoes

“Walk A Mile In Their Shoes” is an inspiring united gender movement where everyone will be a part of the solution to ending sexualized violence by marching a mile in another’s shoes. Men participating are asked to wear women’s heels. Women participating are asked to wear men’s shoes. Registration begins at 4:30PM and the event starts at 5PM.

How Diversity is Represented in the Media

    Kent State’s chapter of Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA Kent), in partnership with the School of Journalism and Mass Communication (JMC), will present a conversation about diversity in the media. For event details, please click here.

 

Safe Space Training

If you were unable to attend the CCI Safe Space Ally Training this semester, please consider attending this one in April. This training aims to equip students, faculty, and staff with the tools for creating welcoming environments for LGBTQ+ students on campus. You have the opportunity to sign an Ally Pledge at the end of the training and receive a rainbow placard for your office. For more information about the training, please visit the website.
