IdeaBase, is a student-powered design agency that works with students and clients giving classroom and professional experience. It allows Kent State students from communications-related fields to build their portfolios and skills as part of collaborative, for-credit studio courses at IdeaBase.

Student Resource Lab (Franklin)

The Student Resource Lab (SRL) enhances the student learning experience. The facility consists of two resource and equipment training suites where CCI students can check out one of the 1,500 pieces of equipment and receive extensive hands-on training. The SRL impacts the learning experience of nearly every student in every major by providing them with training and invaluable technical skills.

Creative Lab
VCD Creative Lab

The Creative Lab is home to Cricut cutters, a vinyl cutter, a 3D printer, high-quality flatbed scanners, laser jet and large-format inkjet printing. Students may also rent high end Nikon and Canon camera bodies, prime lenses, tripods, GoPros, Wacom tablets, iPad Pros and Apple Pencils, studio lighting kits and more.

Digital Television and Control Studio

Students learn and practice their craft in a $2.5-million television studio and control room. This state-of-the-art digital facility fully replicates what our students will find in professional TV studios and provides them with real-world opportunities to grow and develop in this multimedia age.

Taylor Hall Gallery

Taylor Hall features a 1,110 square foot gallery and event space with high ceilings, a customizable floor plan and professional-quality lighting, making it the perfect setting for a variety of artwork. Throughout the year, it showcases works from local, regional, national and international artists and designers, ranging across a variety of mediums, styles and subjects. Senior shows take place there every spring semester.

Student DJ
Black Squirrel Radio

Kent State's student-run Internet radio station with over 150 students on staff. The station provides students with an opportunity to hone their on-air and management skills. The station usually offers more than 60 different specialty music programs, with student DJs in the booth until 2 a.m. every day.
