CCI Student Ambassadors

The College of Communication and Information (CCI) Student Ambassador Program is for undergraduate students with a CCI major who have exhibited academic achievement, leadership and service to the school, college and/or university.


CCI student ambassadors serve as representatives for the college and schools at student recruitment programs. They may also be involved in college and school events such as Homecoming; graduation ceremonies; workshops, lectures and shows in the schools/college; CCI study abroad programs; school/college Professional Advisory Board meetings; and alumni events. The responsibilities of an ambassador may include making presentations; escorting school/college visitors; assisting with school tours; hosting a prospective student group on a school visit; calling prospective students and parents; and attending a college/school luncheon or social event with a visitor/guest. Ambassadors will also serve on a student advisory board to the dean.

  • Full or part-time students who are CCI majors
  • Sophomore standing (minimum 30 hours) or higher
  • 2.70 cumulative GPA is required (required upon application and to remain an ambassador)
  • Must be dependable and possess good verbal communication skills
  • Must complete an application and obtain a professional reference
  • Students can be nominated by a faculty member, advisor or college/school staff person but can self-nominate, as well.

Requirements and Expectations:
  • Ambassadors must commit to at least a two-semester term.
  • There is no set, weekly work schedule as involvement revolves around planned programs.
  • This position requires approximately 10-30 hours of involvement per school year. 
  • Ambassadors must attend training sessions and meetings throughout the year. 
  • Ambassadors may be asked to staff a school/college information table, serve as a panelist or presenter, and/or assist with a school tour. 
  • Ambassadors may be asked to make phone calls to prospective students in the spring (January – April).
