NEW! Christmas Wish Drive

Thursday, December 8th, 2016

Kent Student Center 1st Floor | 2-4pm

Be a blessing this holiday season and donate items to families in need through the Christmas Wish Drive organized by the Epsilon Mu Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. All gifts will be donated to the Miller Community House in Ravenna. Donated items can include toiletries, twin-sized bedding, cooking appliances, winter coats, clothing, cleaning products, and household items.

If you cannot make it to tables, please contact epsilon.mu.dst@gmail.com to make a donation.

Black United Students (BUS) invites everyone to a Kwanzaa celebration with food, music, & culture.

Donations of children’s books or toys are requested.

Prentice Food Drive

The Williamson House 

Encourage students to use their extra meal plan swipes and donate to the Prentice Non-Perishable Food Drive. Dates/Times to donate are: Dec 8th (7-9PM), Dec 9th (5-8PM), Dec 13th (1-8PM).

 

Diaper Drive

The Kent State Women’s Center is hosting a diaper drive from November 7th- December 9th. Drop off locations are: Center for Undergraduate Excellence, Child Development Center, and the Women’s Center of the Williamson House.

Bring A Pack of Diapers (Any Size) to any Drop-off Location!

 

2017 Diversity Trailblazer and Unity Awards!

The Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is now accepting nominations for the 2017 Diversity Trailblazer Award and the 2017 Unity Award for Diversity!

The Diversity Trailblazer Award is awarded to an individual who has displayed exemplary contributions in the area of diversity to the university community.

This Unity Award for Diversity recognizes the contributions of any Kent State University unit that demonstrates the most significant contributions in the areas of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Embracing Kwanzaa’s Principles and Practice

Join the Center of Pan-African Culture as they host their Kwanzaa party! Learn to embrace the principles and practice of Kwanzaa. The night starts off with a viewing of the "Black Candle: A Kwanzaa Celebration" followed by a Kwanzaa ceremony and topped off with a Karamu community meal.

 

Kent State Going Smoke-Free

Kent State University will clear the air beginning July 1st, 2017. That’s when we will become a smoke-free, tobacco-free university. The new university policy aligns with our university-level initiative, Kent State of Wellness that seeks to create a healthy campus environment.

8th Annual Scholarship Fundraiser Reception

Hosted by the Kent State University Women’s Center

Mothers, Mentors and Muses is the Women’s Center's signature event that recognizes Kent State University female-identifying faculty or staff who have made a significant difference in the life of a student or colleague. More than 350 women across the university have received this honor.

This award is intended to honor female-identifying faculty or staff of Kent State (with five or more years of service) who have served in any of three roles:

Mother – one who has helped “birth” ideas, thoughts and academic endeavors in others, or who serves as a nurturing individual to others.

Mentor – one who serves as a trusted counselor, colleague and/or role model.

Muse – one who inspires creativity and artistic/academic passion in others.

Fresh fruits and vegetables are even available on Thursdays from 1:30-4:00pm

Students must bring their Kent State ID cards with them!

Any student at Kent State University is eligible to utilize the food pantry. We never want any of our students to go hungry, and many of them do not know that there is a food pantry available to them. Spread the word!
