CCI Diversity Days

CCI Diversity Days 2019-2020

Diversity and inclusion are important in the College of Communication and Information (CCI) all throughout the year. To more accurately reflect this priority, CCI Diversity Week will be celebrated as CCI Diversity Days beginning in the 2019-2020 academic year!

CCI Diversity Week Spring 2019

EMBRACE. EDUCATE. EMPOWER.

For CCI Diversity Week 2019, the CCI Diversity Team planned several great events to embrace, educate, and empower students through connections to diversity and inclusion resources and discussions. Students, faculty, and staff networked and learned new dance moves at the Get Down with Diversity Mixer. The 15th Annual Robert G. McGruder Lecture and Awards program honored Tanzina Vega, host of NPR’s The Takeaway. CCI students from across the college shared their motivations and tips for handling diverse topics with respect and authenticity during our Diverse Voices student panel event. The week ended with our Diversity Discovery Day, a campus-wide scavenger hunt that encouraged students to connect with others and with diversity and inclusion resources.

CCI Diversity Week Spring 2018

Lend a hand - Be the change

How can you make a positive impact?

For CCI Diversity Week 2018, students, faculty, and staff around the university were asked to reflect on how they could make a positive impact in the world. They wrote their impact on a little hand and added it to the display to show how they could lend a hand and be the change they wish to see.

CCI Diversity Week Spring 2017

Tear down the wall of oppression

For CCI Diversity Week 2017, students, faculty, and staff across campus added paper “bricks” to the Wall of Oppression to represent their fight against different types of oppression. At the end of the week, students were invited to make a pledge against oppression and help us tear down the wall.
