CCI Students Earn Commendation in International Advertising Competition
A cross-disciplinary team of students from Kent State’s College of Communication and Information earned commendation for their work on You Can Now’s (YCN) Student Awards, an international, creative advertising competition.
Alyssa Fejko (visual communication design), Julie Jones (advertising) and Jerrica Damask (communication studies) submitted an entry in response to a client brief from Dogs Trust during the spring 2018 semester. In September 2018, Jones and Damask traveled to London for YCN’s New Now celebration to be honored for their work.
The campaign created by the Kent State team sought to get more Dogs Trust dogs into forever homes sooner and to make “rescue dogs” the most desirable breed of dog in Britain.
According to its website, the YCN Student Awards exist to stimulate, elevate and celebrate the freshest creative thinking around the world. The competition put out 13 creative briefs for students and recent graduates from across the world to respond to. A total of 129 entries were submitted for Dogs Trust, the brief the Kent State team worked on, and only 10 of them received commendation. Only two other teams of students from the United States earned commendation.
