Disney, Digital Branding Institute Social Media Experts to Headline Tenth YouToo Social Media Conference

The tenth YouToo Social Media Conference has confirmed its keynote speakers, bringing Disney digital media powerhouse Greg Josken and digital branding expert Juntae DeLane to headline the milestone conference.

Josken, digital marketing and social media manager for the Disney Theatrical Group, will open the conference as the morning speaker on Friday, April 21 in Kent State University’s Franklin Hall.

For the past five years, Josken has overseen the content marketing strategy for all Broadway and domestic productions including “The Lion King,” “Aladdin” and “Newsies.” Working with partners across the company, Josken has developed unique online touch points from short form video, to user-generated content campaigns, to one-of-a-kind Virtual Reality experiences.

Josken manages an online community of more than three million users and produces content for the Disney on Broadway YouTube channel with 100 million views. Having grown one of Broadway’s largest online presences, Josken is dedicated to social media innovation not only within the live entertainment industry, but also across The Walt Disney Company.

“We are extremely excited to have Greg open the conference at our tenth conference,” says Jennifer Kramer, APR, director of public relations and marketing communications for Kent State University’s College of Communication and Information and the chair of the YouToo planning committee. “His success with building Disney’s online presence is incredible, and I think he has a lot to offer to both the professionals and students in attendance.”

DeLane, the lunch keynote, is the founder of the Digital Branding Institute, a global hub for digital branding resources, education and training. His passion for digital branding serves as the driving force to helping organizations and individuals enhance their digital identity, visibility and credibility.

Currently, DeLane is the senior digital brand manager for the University of Southern California where he leads a team responsible for developing, managing and measuring digital marketing initiatives.  In addition, he is the principal consultant and strategist for Digital DeLane, a digital branding consultancy that helps organizations build strong brands.

"DeLane is one of the industry's most sought after speakers," Kramer said. "He's energetic, knowledgeable and relatable. Not only will we learn a lot from listening to him, but we will also have access to tons of resources via his website, Digital Branding Institute."

Presented by State and Federal Communications and a host of other sponsors, the conference will take place on Friday, April 21, from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. and includes morning and afternoon breakout sessions. Students will also have the opportunity to attend student-only sessions with Josken and DeLane and network with the other professionals in attendance.

The conference brings area communications professionals to Kent State to discuss the role of social media in public relations and marketing. Students studying similar areas of interest are also encouraged to attend, but anyone can register for the conference.

The Akron Area Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and the Kent State University Chapter of Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) co-host the conference. Registration closes on April 17, or sooner if the event sells out as it has in the previous four years. Conference proceeds support the YouToo Scholarship Fund, Kent State University PRSSA Chapter and the Akron Area PRSA Chapter.
