Jumpstart your Career in Youth Librarianship

SLIS invites youth services librarians to a day of presentations that will help you launch or jumpstart your career.

The School of Library and Information Science invites aspiring and current youth services librarians to a day of informative, interactive presentations that will help you launch or jumpstart your career. The event is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Registration is required; cost is $25 per person. Space is limited.

Presentations by library directors, youth services librarians and SLIS faculty include:

You’re Hired: Both Sides of the Table (Panel Discussion)
Preparing Your Resume / Video Résumé
Interviewing Skills
Managing Your Online Presence/ Personal Branding
Nontraditional Jobs for Youth Services Librarians

The event is open to SLIS alumni and current students interested in youth services librarianship (youth services = K-12 school librarians, children’s librarians, teen librarians).
 
The sessions will take place in SLIS on the Kent Campus, room 311 on the 3rd floor of the University library. The registration fee of $25 includes breakfast pastries, lunch, afternoon snack and workshop materials.
