Registration for the College of Communication and Information (CCI) Career Expo ’18 is Now Open!

Sixth Annual Career Expo Takes Place on Thurs, Feb. 15

The sixth annual Career Expo will take place on Thurs, Feb. 15, 2018 in the Student Center Ballroom.  The job and internship fair is exclusively for sophomores through graduate students in the College of Communication and Information.

The focus of this year’s Expo is to highlight students’ skills and encourage them, along with employers, to think beyond their specific majors and consider the skill sets needed for the job.  During registration, employers will be asked to select the skills they are seeking for open positions. In this year’s program booklet there will be icons to help students to easily identify the skills they possess using the following categories:

  • Advertising, public relations and mass communication
  • Branding, graphic & visual design
  • Digital design & web/software development
  • Digital media production, photography, audio & video 
  • Interaction & user experience design
  • Strategic & organizational, public communication
  • Technology systems, management & architecture
  • Writing, journalism & content strategy

CCI plans to host over 50 businesses from northeast Ohio and the surrounding areas who are looking for interns or full time positions.  Although it’s still early in the registration process, the companies who have already committed include: The Greater Cleveland Sports Commission, ESPN-Cleveland, Nexstar stations, The Columbus Radio Group, WKSU, PR 20/20, AKHIA, Entercom (formerly CBS Radio), Radio One, Falls Communication, Ohio Magazine, Akron Life and Leisure Magazine, WFMJ, Ideastream, FormFire, BridgePoint Creative, NOPEC and Akron Rubberducks.

The schedule for the Expo will consist of a job fair in the morning from 10 a.m. until noon, then time for follow up interviews (depending on the company) from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m.  Employers are invited to a lunch from noon until 1 p.m. with the dean and school directors in the student center ballroom balcony.
