RELATIONSHIP ABUSE AWARENESS MONTH

 

October 1st – October 31st

 

October 1st is the beginning of Relationship Abuse Awareness Month.  During this month, the SRVSS Office will be providing programs and opportunities for healing, support, and safety of those impacted by relationship and sexual violence. There will be opportunities for the community to rally in support and engage in dialogue about prevention.

DISABILITY AWARENESS MONTH

We talk about disAbilities with a capital “A” because we want to focus on what people CAN do, not what they CAN’T do.

HURRICANE RELIEF SUPPLY DRIVE

 

October 1st-October 20th

 

In support of numerous requests from within the university community, Human Resources is sponsoring  the Kent State University and Community Partners Hurricane Relief Supply Drive, Oct. 1 - 20, 2017. 

 
Donate much-needed supplies to provide comfort and support to communities across the South affected by recent hurricanes and subsequent floodwaters. Please only donate the items listed on the website.

THAT GAY 5K FUNDRAISER

Friday, October 6th

Risman Plaza

 

All proceeds of this event go to the LGBTQ Emergency Fund to help students in need.

 

The theme this year is "Not your average GLOW run". That Gay 5K's accessible route is for runners, walkers, and rollers of all ages and abilities. Throughout the course, there will be volunteers stationed to cheer you along and distribute glow gear for participants.  At the conclusion of the event, refreshments and information will be available in the Kent Student Center Ballroom Balcony (3rd floor, of the Kent Student Center).

This Is Hunger is a powerful and interactive exhibit, housed in a big rig, that takes individuals on a journey—one that that will challenge their beliefs about who in America struggles with hunger and why, and inspire them to take action.
