Acacia Freeman is a senior in Applied Communication with a minor in Advertising. She has studied abroad in both Geneva, Switzerland and Melbourne, Australia. Whether it’s through her service as an EXCEL mentor, Student Success Leader or a Resident Assistant, Acacia loves getting involved on campus. She is currently an intern with CCI Diversity in the Dean’s Office.

Sophomore in COMM studies (Interpersonal)

Chloe Drake is a sophomore in Interpersonal Communication. She is passionate about her work as a Kupita/Transciones mentor for Kent State. In her free time, she writes for her blog titled The Diary of a Wilted Flower. The blog is geared towards young women to help them work through issues such as lack of self-esteem, low motivation, and heartbreak. For her career path, she aspires to be an author, life coach, or motivational speaker.

Junior in Photography, User Experience Design minor

Photography is Catey Sedor’s passion! Ignited within her is a desire to turn her passion into her profession. Inspired by artistic challenge, she is pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in photo illustration with a minor in User Experience Design. As she prepares for a career in commercial photography, her drive to do more, learn more, and see more is fueled by her achievements within the College of Communication and Information and her study abroad experiences.

Senior in DMP (Television)

Danielle Broomes is a senior Digital Media Production major, with a concentration in Television. She has been involved on campus as a Student Success Leader, participating in TV2, and through the fundraising committee for Textures, a Kent State Student Organization. Danielle loves to travel, and after graduation, she plans on working in a corporate setting as a Social Media Director or  part of an advertising team.

Senior in Journalism (Broadcast) with a PR minor

Erin Simonek is highly involved in Kent State’s TV2 program. She is a senior Broadcast Journalism major with a Public Relations minor. She works on the TV2 board as a producer, anchor, reporter, and digital director. She also works part time for Cleveland 19 News and is an editorial writer for HerCampus, a Kent State Student Organization. Erin’s dream job is to anchor or report for a news station.

Junior in PR with a minor in Marketing

Jada Miles is a junior Public Relations student with a minor in Marketing. She works as the Director of Public Relations for the National Association of Black Journalists, which includes developing plans for their social media, gaining and retaining members, and networking with other organizations. She is also a member of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA), a highly successful Kent State Student Organization. In her free time, Jada loves to sit back and read a good book.

Brittany Hodor is an Interpersonal Communication student with a minor in Human Development and Family Studies. Brittany spent summer 2019 studying abroad in Florence, Italy at Kent State’s Italy-based campus. She is outgoing and enjoys meeting new people, especially new Kent State CCI students.

Kendra Taylor is a junior studying Visual Communication Design with a minor in Advertising. She chose these fields of study because she has an eye for design and enjoys critiquing details of advertisements. Kendra’s experience in the College of Communication and Information has helped her grow into the designer she aims to be. Outside of CCI, Kendra is involved with the Alzheimer’s Association as a volunteer and participant in various fundraisers.

Pedro Varfaley is a junior Digital Media Production major with a minor in Design. Working in organizations and programs such as The Male Empowerment Network (M.E.N), Kupita/Transciones, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., The Lebron James Family Foundation, and TV 2; Pedro has implemented many new initiatives, programs and events for students to develop personally as well as professionally. Pedro is drawn to not only lead people, but help and mentor others to reach their highest potential.

As a Digital Media Production major, Reina Watson hopes to make documentaries and online content in her future career. She is a junior and has been involved with Kent State’s SALSA as a member of their Executive Board for the past three years. In her free time, she likes to watch documentaries and television series on Netflix. Reina also enjoys watching YouTube videos, her favorite being Pero Like provided by Buzzfeed’s YouTube channel.

Omar McWhorter is a junior Communication Studies student with a concentration in Global Communication. He combines his COMM major with a minor in Creative Writing. He plans to work for a video game company as a Public Relations representative for a video game developer/publisher. He also hopes to work with a nonprofit organization in the future. Macy Kittelberger is a senior Public Relations major, with a minor in Marketing. She has a love for performing, a gift for writing, and a passion for being creative. Macy has served Kent State by taking on a Resident Assistant role, assisting first year experience classes as a Student Success Leader, and co-teaching the University’s Peer Leadership Training Course. She currently serves as a PR intern for Flash Communications through the University Communications and Marketing department where she writes stories for Kent State Today. Macy is grateful for the opportunities presented to her through CCI and is excited to share those experiences with new students.

Gershon is a junior Journalism major, with a concentration on magazine journalism. He enjoys fashion and culture and plans to use the craft and power of journalism to write about his passion and to be the voice for his community, “I want to be a light for change in the world.” Gershon was a feature writer for the Kent Stater and is currently serving as the social media coordinator for the National Association of Black Journalists, Kent State Chapter.
