 Jose Limon Dance Company Summer Intensive (Kent State Students)

Limón Dance will hold a two-week intensive at Kent State in July 2018 with Artistic Director Colin Connor. This workshop doubles as an audition for placement and scholarships for the Limón Summer Intensive at Kent State.

Marantz Picturebook Research Symposium (Open to All)

The School of Information will host the 2nd biannual Marantz Picturebook Research Symposium on August 5 to 7, 2018, at Kent State University. "Comics and the Graphic Narrative: The Future of the Movement" is the theme of this event. Plenary addresses will include original, interdisciplinary research in areas related to comics and graphic novels and will feature comic creators. Breakout sessions, exhibits, posters, and panels will further expand this popular topic. This symposium is graciously funded by Dr. Kenneth and Sylvia Marantz and it honors the couple's lifelong dedication to the art of the picturebook.

Piano Institute (Grades 7-12)

This workshop for talented piano students in grades 7 - 12 offers a unique combination of lessons, master classes and performance opportunities. Students from all over the United States will converge on the campus of Kent State University for 10 days of inspiration, learning, and sharing.

Porthouse College Academy (Prospective BFA Students) 

The Porthouse College Academy is designed for students who have been accepted or wish to be accepted into Kent State's BFA Musical Theatre program. Participants can earn up to 6 credit hours towards their degree and get a jump start on their musical theatre experience at Kent State.

Porthouse International Academy (International Students) 

Founded in 2015, the Porthouse International Academy is an opportunity for international students to experience the workings of a professional American theatre and take theatre classes for college credit. The International Academy runs concurrently with the Porthouse College Academy.

Summer Fashion Academy (Students 16-18 years old)

The academy is a one-week program that introduces high school students to key areas in fashion design and merchandising. The Summer Fashion Academy will allow creative, motivated teens to explore their passion for fashion in a pre-college, summer residence program. Our mission is to inspire creative and resourceful fashion leaders.
