Methods in Jazz Performance and Pedagogy

Students will participate in immersive experiences in various aspects of instrumental jazz: improvisation, ensemble rehearsal techniques, history of Jazz, and composition/arranging. They will also join in a nightly jam session to experience the applicable aspects of jazz music.

By attending this program you will gain greater knowledge of the basic principles of jazz improvisation, theory, performance, and an understanding of jazz styles. You will feel more confident functioning musically, in a jazz setting, whether as a player or an educator.
