Summer Teacher Residency at Cleveland Institute of Art

Note: All credit workshop registrants must also be enrolled in the CIA Summer Teacher Residency.

The CIA Summer Teacher Residency brings together visual art educators from around the globe in a supportive and stimulating environment in which to create a personal body of work, engage in professional development, discuss current educational trends, provide curricular support, and establish best practices to engage in art education and art studio processes. Participants will spend 100 hours in the studio working under the resident artist and in professional development sessions at CIA and partner institutions. And they will leave with a completed body of work based on an original proposal. Topics covered will include: careers in the arts, how to balance being an artist while having another job, and best practices in showing work and participating in the wider art world. The experience will benefit teachers’ own practices and provide them with insights into contemporary art history, realistic career paths, and what it means to be an artist today that they can bring back to their classrooms.
