  • 10:30 a.m. Andrew Barchowsky, Ph.D.: Department of Environmental and Occupational Health, University of Pittsburgh “Cardiovascular disease from arsenic in drinking water: studies from mice to men.” Dr. Barchowsky an Associate Professor in the Graduate School of Public Health, University of Pittsburgh, and Director of the Pittsburgh  Environmental Health Sciences Program and of the University of Pittsburgh Center for the Environmental Basis of Human Disease.  As Principal Investigator, he has received nine grants , two investigating Mechanisms for arsenic induced vascular disease. He has 74 referred publications, 15 as first writer, and 24 published abstracts in the past five years. His work focuses on toxicology and pharmacology.

  • 1:30 p.m. Chip Kohser: Stateline Feed & Country Store/ Isodore Foods “The Importance of Local Foods to the Environment and to the Local Economy.”  
  • 2:45 p.m. Scott Shalaway: Environmental Writer
    “A Trip to the Enchanted Islands.” Scott Shalaway is an environmental writer and radio show host. His columns are available locally in The Farm and Dairy and his radio show airs from Wheeling, West Virginia. He will speak about the Galapagos Islands.

Earth friendly products, CDs by environmental groups, and groups representing earth friendly services will be available.

Proposals accepted for panels, papers or presentations, and a poster session.  (Attendees need not submit a proposal for poster session.)
