Program Introduction

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program prepares students to enter professional nursing practice as registered nurses, helps them understand their role in society, and prepares them for graduate study. At Kent State Salem, this program features an 8:1 average student-to-faculty ratio, a state-of-the-art nursing laboratory, and clinical experiences at local hospitals and facilities. 

As part of the College of Nursing’s mission to address the health care needs of Ohioans, the Nursing program is offered at multiple locations throughout northeast Ohio. All four years of the program can be completed at the Salem, Geauga, Kent, Stark, and Trumbull campuses.

Current registered nurses can complete their BSN online through the Nursing for Registered Nurses (RN to BSN) program.

This Program Will Teach You

  • The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program prepares students to enter professional nursing practice as registered nurses, helps them understand their role in society, and prepares them for graduate study. At Kent State Salem, this program features an 8:1 average student-to-faculty ratio, a state-of-the-art nursing laboratory, and clinical experiences at local hospitals and facilities. On average, Salem graduates attain an NCLEX-RN pass rate of over 90%.

  • As part of the College of Nursing’s mission to address the health care needs of Ohioans, the Nursing program is offered at multiple locations throughout northeast Ohio. All four years of the program can be completed at the Salem, Geauga, Kent, Stark, and Trumbull campuses.

  • Current registered nurses can complete their BSN online through the Nursing for Registered Nurses (RN to BSN) program.

How to Apply

The Nursing program has a two-step application process:

  1. Apply online to Kent State University. Select the campus you wish to attend and choose the Nursing major.
  2. Once you have met the requirements to enter the Professional Nursing Sequence(typically at the end of your freshman year), submit an application to the College of Nursing.

Note: Admission into the professional nursing sequence is highly competitive and is not guaranteed.
