Communiversity Choir Joins Voices with Kent Groups for Spring Performance

The Kent State Salem Communiversity Choir is participating in a very exciting project this spring!  It is combining with the Kent State campus choirs, orchestra and dancers to perform the Vaughan Williams Dona Nobis Pacem, and will premiere a new work to be written by KSU student composers.  The KSU calendar states that the new work is “composed in collaboration with the Wick Poetry Center, School of Theatre and Dance, and the School of Journalism and Mass Communications.”  It is sponsored by a Catalyst Grant which fosters cross-curricular collaboration.

The concert is May 6, at 3 p.m., in Cartwright Auditorium.  Mark your calendars!

The Communiversity Choir is directed by Mel Fucci, associate professor of music. The choir will rehearse throughout the semester at the City Center of Salem (Tuesdays, 7-9 p.m.) and will then join the Kent groups for a few dress rehearsals closer to the performance.  This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and everyone is welcome to sing with them!

The first rehearsal is Tuesday, January 16, at 7 p.m. in the City Center.  If you have questions, please contact Mel Fucci at mfucci@kent.edu.
