Last year, Kent State University at Salem welcomed the first student into its Insurance Studies program and became the first college in Ohio to offer this degree. The move was a direct response to pleas from the state’s insurance industry for graduates to fill looming vacancies.
Industry leaders and Ohio Gov. John Kasich fully endorse the Kent State degree program, which is now offered online and attracts students from all across the state – and beyond. It has also attracted media attention.
Katelynn Moore of East Liverpool was the first to enroll in the program and has served as an ambassador of sorts ever since. To find out more about this program and how it fits into the future of the insurance industry, check out a recent article feature in the Cleveland Plain Dealer at http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2013/09/insurance_jobs_will_be_plentif.html.
