
Janice J. Gibson, M.Ed., R.T. (R)
Biography
I am the Senior Program Director of the Radiology Programs at Kent State Salem Campus which includes the Associate of Applied Science degree in Radiologic Technology and the Bachelor of Technology degree in Radiologic and Imaging Sciences. I graduated from the School of Radiologic Technology at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren, Ohio. I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Technical Education from the University of Akron and a Master’s degree in Health Education and Promotion from Kent State University.
I was employed as a staff registered radiologic technologist at Trumbull Memorial Hospital prior to employment as the program director of the School of Radiologic Technology at Trumbull Memorial Hospital. I joined Kent State University in 1995 as the program director of the associate degree in radiologic technology program and became the senior program director in 2002.
My primary responsibilities as senior program director is to serve as the administrator of the program in order to assure effective program operations, oversee ongoing program assessment, maintain current knowledge of the professional discipline and educational methodologies through continuing professional development, and assume the leadership role in the continued development of the programs. I also serve as the advisor for the radiology programs, helping students with advisement, scheduling, and meeting graduation and certification requirements and I serve as advisor for the Radiologic Technology club. My teaching responsibilities include the following courses: Introduction to Radiologic Technology, Radiographic Exposure and Imaging I and II, Radiologic Physics, Advanced Imaging and Radiographic Techniques.
