The School of Communication Studies offers a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts degree. The interdisciplinary doctoral degree program is offered through the College of Communication and Information.

Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies

Students pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies can choose from six major concentrations:

  • Applied Communication
  • Global Communication
  • Health Communication
  • Interpersonal Communication
  • Organizational Communication
  • Public Communication

Communication Studies Minors

Students of any major can choose communication minors in the following concentrations:

  • Communication Studies
  • Global Communication
  • Health Communication
  • Interpersonal Communication
  • Organizational Communication
  • Public Communication

Master of Arts in Communication Studies

Students in the M.A. program typically pursue one or more of the following four areas of study. Alternatively, students may also craft a program of study that bridges traditional boundaries between the concentrations:

  • Global Communication
  • Health Communication
  • Interpersonal Communication
  • Mediated & Mass Communication

Doctor of Philosophy in Communication & Information

The interdisciplinary Ph.D. program in the College of Communication and Information is designed to prepare students for a lifetime of research and teaching as a college professor or for a career as a highly-trained communication or information specialist in an applied setting. The degree requires both comprehensive theoretical knowledge and methodological skills appropriate to a range of careers involving the generation, processing and retrieval of information.
