Natalie Timmerman
Internship: Summa Health
While interning with Summa Health, communication studies student Natalie Timmerman, ’23, is able to help others through effective communication.
Through her communication studies coursework, Natalie has learned effective communication, writing, working in a team environment, and becoming detail oriented. She uses these skills every day at her internship.
“This internship is helping me figure out my interests and strengths. I have always wanted to do something that helps people, and I’m doing that here at Summa Health. We are always trying to make things easier for patients by coming up with ideas to provide the best experience possible. I want to continue to do things like this in the future.”
As an intern, Natalie enjoys getting different types of tasks and is always learning something new. Her day-to-day tasks include responding to online reviews, updating website content and learning tools like Google Analytics. Natalie’s supervisors made it a goal to help her improve and learn as much as possible, so she also has been able to shadow professionals in other departments and attend events such as the Wadsworth Blue Tip Parade with team members.
Advice for interns:
“Try as many new things as you can, and don’t be afraid to make mistakes. You’re there to learn and grow, so make the most out of it! Also, don’t be afraid to reach out for help. Your coworkers want to see you succeed and are happy to help or offer advice!”
