Kent State University School of Communication Studies Now Located in Art Building

Move is Temporary for the 2016-2017 Academic Year

The School of Communication Studies temporarily moved from Taylor Hall to the Art Building this summer and will remain there through the 2016-2017 academic year while renovations are made to the interior of Taylor Hall. Once renovations are complete, the School of Communication Studies will move back to Taylor Hall, along with the School of Visual Communication Design which is currently housed in the Art Building.

The updates to the interior of Taylor Hall will offer additional classroom and laboratory space to meet the growing size of the communication studies and visual communication design programs. Additionally, the renovations will allow for updates to technology to ensure the programs remain competitive in the future.

As only interior updates are being made, the outside of Taylor Hall will remain the same. The May 4 Visitors Center will remain open through the Fall 2016 semester for guests and to accommodate the university’s first year experience classes. Updated information on the May 4 Visitors Center’s hours for the Spring 2017 will be posted at

To stay updated on the project, continue to check the communication studies website at Telephone and fax numbers for the school will remain the same.
