School of Communication Studies Hosts Orientation for International Students

All New and Returning Students from Across the College Welcomed at Special Program

The Kent State University School of Communication Studies will host an international student orientation for all new and current international students enrolled in the College of Communication and Information (CCI).

The orientation is a social event for undergraduate and graduate international students to meet the school’s interim director, Dr. Jeffrey Child, faculty and other international students. Students will hear from Miao Liu, the school’s international student advisor, about helpful resources available on campus and important information on school and legal policies. Students will also receive advice on how to have a successful classroom and college experience from various faculty members.

"We want our students to come meet other international students so they know they aren’t alone here,” Liu said. “Our goal is to make them comfortable and integrate them into our Kent State University family.”

The orientation is open to all international students within CCI, but is mandatory for all enrolled in the School of Communication Studies. The program will be held on Friday, Jan. 29 from 3-5 p.m. in Room 146, Taylor Hall.

“We have a few new international and exchange students joining us this semester,” Liu said. “We hope they have a positive and exciting experience.”
