STUDENTS CAN APPLY FOR SCHOLARSHIPS NOW, DEADLINE FEB. 16
The School of Communication Studies is now accepting applications for undergraduate and graduate scholarships to be awarded for the 2018-2019 school year.
To apply for one of the COMM scholarships, visit HERE. Students must log in using their FlashLine credentials to complete the scholarship application. The submission deadline is 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 16.
Before submitting the application and uploading supporting documentation, students should review the individual scholarship requirements. All scholarships must include:
- Completed application form
- GPA as of the previous semester
- Two letters of support
Individual scholarships may require additional materials, such as samples of work, essays or statements of need.

MAKING CHANGES TO YOUR SPRING 2018 SCHEDULE
Sunday, Jan. 21 is the last day to ADD full-semester courses to your Spring 2018 schedule. Half-semester courses and other flexibly scheduled courses may have different registration deadlines.
Jan. 21 is also the last day to drop full-semester courses from your Spring 2018 schedule and receive a 100 percent tuition refund. While you may drop courses from your spring schedule until Jan. 28, you will only receive an 80 percent tuition refund/credit. Half-semester courses and other flexibly scheduled courses may have different registration deadlines.
You may review registration deadlines for each of your courses through the “Add or Drop a Course” link in FlashLine. By clicking on the green clock next to each course, you are able to view each course’s registration deadline information.
HAVE AN ADVISING QUESTION REGARDING MAKING A SCHEDULE CHANGE?
The Advising Office closes at 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 19.
Advisors will not be able to assist you after 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 19, before the drop deadline which occurs over the weekend. If you have questions about your schedule, please come for a walk-in appointment.
WALK-IN ADVISING: THIS WEEK ONLY
Walk-in times are from 9 to 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 to 4 p.m. in the Advising Office, Rm. 101 Taylor Hall.
CCI Advising has walk-in hours during the first week of classes. Appointments are also available during this week if you have a more in-depth question.
Dates: Tuesday, Jan. 16 through Friday, Jan. 19
Times: 9 to 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 to 4 p.m.
An advisor is available to answer your QUICK questions…10-minutes maximum. This is the only time during the semester that we have walk-in appointments. After week one, students are required to make an advising appointment if they want to see an advisor.
REGISTER NOW FOR CAREER EXPO ‘18
Career Expo ‘18 is Thursday, Feb. 15. Register for the event by Feb. 2 at https://www.kent.edu/cci/careerexpo.
You will meet potential employers and get a chance to make a great first impression at Career Expo ’18 on Thursday, Feb. 15 at Kent State University’s Student Center Ballroom.
This event is exclusively for CCI sophomores through graduate students majoring in the College of Communication and Information.
The Expo will consist of a job fair in the morning with the possibility of a personal interview in the afternoon (depending on the company).
10 a.m. to noon: Job Fair
1 to 3 p.m.: Possible Interviews
Plan to attend the Career Expo Prep Session from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, in Rm. 340 Franklin Hall. Communication professionals will offer insight on proper attire, planning your elevator pitch and ways to make a positive impression.
