Comparing Diversities Conference

Comparing Diversities Conference Update

Due to the number of significant events taking place this year, we are postponing the Comparing Diversities Conference. This is a signature year for Kent State that honors several milestones for our university. In place of the conference, we are shifting our focus to celebrate the Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion's 10 year anniversary and the upcoming May 4 events. More details about DEI's anniversary event are forthcoming, and information about the 50th Commemoration of May 4 can be found here.

Redefining Diversity for the Global Citizen

Diversity is a characteristic feature of contemporary societies. It is a crucial phenomenon in the context of an always more globalized and interconnected world that is perceived as problematic. The peaceful and meaningful coexistence among diverse human beings requires a new set of skills and sensibility for approaching ‘otherness’ and for better making sense of our place within our always more diversified communities in which we live and work. Understanding diversity, and consequently expanding it in light of growing need of equity and inclusion, is a strategic activity that involves educators, administrators, and more in general the entire university community.
