    COVID-19 Vaccine Requirement

Across all campuses, 82% of employees and nearly 80% of students are vaccinated. In addition, 89% of the residence hall students on the Kent Campus are vaccinated. Beginning with the first summer session in 2022, COVID-19 vaccines, including all booster shots, are strongly recommended for our entire Kent State community but are no longer required. Being up to date on COVID-19 vaccines, including having all recommended booster shots, determines quarantine guidelines and can reduce risk of severe disease and hospitalization.

Vaccines and booster shots will continue to be available at the DeWeese Health Center on the Kent Campus and at numerous other locations throughout Northeast Ohio

    Facial Covering & Distancing Guidelines

Facial coverings are required only for academic courses in classrooms, laboratories and studios, as well as in the DeWeese Health Center, in the Child Development Center and on all PARTA buses on the Kent Campus.

As we have throughout the pandemic, we will continue to base our health and safety practices on the regularly changing guidance provided by the CDC in consultation with our local health department.

    COVID-19 Testing Plan

Kent State's COVID-19 testing plan for the 2022 Spring Semester is for all students, faculty and staff within our eight-campus system, to identify the virus and stop its spread. Random tests are not conducted at this time.

Testing that will take place includes:

    • At-home tests for all residence hall students, prior to their January move-in.
    • Weekly testing of all students, faculty and staff who have an approved exemption from vaccination, either at the Visit Healthcare locations on the Kent Campus or by use of at-home tests kits provided on all Regional Campuses.
    • Weekly testing of all students, faculty and staff who are not fully vaccinated or who are waiting on an exemption until they become compliant.

    Other Testing

    • Kent State will continue to monitor wastewater from campus housing to look for spikes in virus shed to identify possible outbreaks.
