A student must obtain an internship offer from a company, an institution, an organization, or a governmental agency before enrolling in the Internship course. It is essential that the student's work be related to and complementary to his or her formal education. An internship offer letter should include several important details about the position, including:

  • Name of the company.
  • Dates the internship program will begin and end.
  • Expected work schedule during the internship program.
  • The evaluation process of the assignments
  • Details about whether the position will be paid or unpaid (we strongly recommend that the position will be paid as a way to be assessed internally).
  • Legal disclosures, such as non-compete and nondisclosure agreements.
  • Name of the supervisor or manager who will oversee the position and his/her contact.
  • Acceptance statement and signature section with a response deadline.

Steps

The following steps must be taken in order to participate in the optional internship program:

  • It is important to consult with your advisor to determine whether this is an appropriate time to participate in an internship program.

  • There is a possibility that this process may take more than one week. In order to avoid any potential delays, we ask that you plan in advance.

  • Receive an offer letter from an organization outlining the details and nature of the related work, as well as the terms and conditions of the employment.

  • Fill out the  Internship Application form from Forms & Guidelines. Only possible with Flash Login.

  • Send a copy of the offer letter to the:

    • Instructor of the Internship course (currently Dr. Jin, rjin1@kent.edu) for approval.
