Spirit & Traditions events take place during KSU Kickoff, Homecoming week and beyond. These events create and maintain traditions, bringing the entire Kent State community closer together with KSU pride.  
 

KSU KICKOFF EVENTS

  • Bingo | Kent Student Center Ballroom | August 19 | 8 p.m.

  • Meijer Back to College Event | Pick up in front of Ice Arena | August 20 | 2 - 6 p.m.

  • Outdoor Movie: Aladdin | Student Green | August 20 | 10 p.m.

  • Blastoff | Risman Plaza | August 21 | 4:30 - 8 p.m

  • KSU Kickball Carnival | Rec Fields | August 24 | 4-9 p.m.


38th ANNUAL BLACK SQUIRREL FESTIVAL 

  • Friday, September 6 | noon - 5 p.m.

  • The Black Squirrel Festival has been a Kent State tradition for 38 years! The event offers students a chance to learn about student organizations, explore different university departments and learn more about the Kent community. Local vendors will have everything from coupons to clothing and jewelry and of course free stuff. Many of the more than 400 student organizations will be set up at the event to recruit new members and encourage students to get involved. 

    The first 1,000 students to visit a set amount of tables will receive an official Black Squirrel Festival t-shirt.

  • Paint the K | Risman Plaza | Sept 16 | 5 p.m.

  • FlashBash | Risman Plaza | Sept. 16 | 6 - 9 p.m.

  • Hypnotist | Kiva | Sept. 17 | 8 p.m.

  • Homecoming Parade | Main Street | Sept. 21 | 10 a.m.
