Kent Books to Prisoners
Kent Books to Prisoners (KB2P) is a university-affiliated collective that supports prisoners primarily through the provision of free books and other reading material upon request. Our efforts also extend to the 'outside', where we seek to educate people about the injustices of the prison-industrial complex.
KB2P strives to exemplify the maxim "solidarity, not charity". For this reason, all of our activities reflect a direct, personal approach. Packages of books are assembled on a case-by-case basis and sent straight to the individuals requesting them, so that they become their own personal property. We also foster pen pal relationships and assist in the formation of study groups.
Members of KB2P have long collaborated with a variety of organizations fighting for structural change to the penal system and is thus a great opportunity for politically-minded students in addition to those interested in service.
