  • Journalism Teaching Endorsement: Yes - Journalism is an approved area that is attached to an Elementary (K-8) or Secondary (7-12) certificate. If a teacher’s primary assignment is Journalism then it must be reflected on their certificate.
  • Pass state assessment or certification test/s (tests needed): Arizona does not have a Journalism test. We require 24 semester hours of Journalism coursework.
  • NCATE or National Accreditation required: Not NCATE specifically, however, degrees or coursework submitted for an approved area or certificate must come from an accredited institution. It does not necessarily have to be NCATE approved but must be regionally accredited.
  • Accepts candidates from states participating in the NASDTEC Interstate Contract: Arizona DOES belong to Interstate Certification Compact, and may issue like-kind certificates.
