Florida Teaching Certifications
Information currently listed:
- Journalism Teaching Endorsement: Yes - To teach Journalism in Florida, the educator must hold certification in Journalism or English.
- Pass state assessment or certification test/s (tests needed): There are many pathways to full Professional Certification in Florida. Many educators select the pathway that requires passing three Florida examinations: the General Knowledge test, the Professional Education test, and the subject area test (which would be Journalism for those seeking certification in Journalism).
- NCATE or National Accreditation required: We offer numerous professional teacher preparation options that include traditional and alternative pathways. To accept college courses, degrees, and programs for Florida educator certification purposes, they must be completed at an institution that holds accreditation recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or at an institution approved by our State Board of Education.
- Accepts candidates from states participating in the NASDTEC Interstate Contract: Florida DOES belong to the NASDTEC Interstate Contract (Teachers, Administrators, and Support Professionals).
