  • Journalism Teaching Endorsement (yes/no): No – to teach journalism in New Jersey, a teacher must have an English teaching endorsement.
  • Pass state assessment or certification test/s (tests needed): Teachers seeking an English endorsement would need to pass the English/Language/Literature/Composition Content Knowledge test – test code 0041. Of the 30 credits in English, 12 or above of those credits must be upper division courses (junior and senior level courses).
  • NCATE or National Accreditation required: State accreditation of institution issuing the education is required.
  • Accepts candidates from states participating in the NASDTEC Interstate Contract: New Jersey DOES belong to the Interstate Certification Compact and the NASDTEC Interstate Contract (Teachers only).
