Information currently listed:

  • Journalism Teaching Endorsement: No specific journalism endorsement required, however, appropriate English endorsement (i.e. middle grades English for middle grades journalism, secondary English for secondary journalism) required.
  • Pass state assessment or certification test/s (tests needed): Secondary English teachers must either pass the secondary English Praxis II (0044) or be licensed in another state and have worked under a secondary English endorsement for 3 of the last 7 years. Middle grades English teachers must pass either the middle grades English Praxis II (0049) or secondary English Praxis II (0044) or be licensed in another state and have worked under a middle grades English endorsement for 3 of the last 7 years.
  • NCATE or National Accreditation required: All teachers, except for certain Career & Tech endorsements, must have at least a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Teachers must have a recommendation from a state approved educator preparation program or be licensed in another state and show that they have appropriate competencies or go through our peer review program or, for a limited number of endorsements, go through transcript review.
  • Accepts candidates from states participating in the NASDTEC Interstate Contract: Vermont DOES belong to the NASDTEC Interstate Contract (Teachers and Administrators).
