  • Journalism Teaching Endorsement: No - In 2000, we eliminated our stand-alone journalism endorsement – teaching journalism is now covered under the broad English language arts endorsement.
  • Pass state assessment or certification test/s (tests needed): None for journalism, but there is a content-area test (West-E) for English language arts.
  • NCATE or National Accreditation required: Institution must be regionally accredited and state approved (by the state in which the program is completed).
  • Accepts candidates from states participating in the NASDTEC Interstate Contract: Washington DOES belong to the NASDTEC Interstate Contract (Teachers, Support Professionals and Administrators).
