  • Journalism Teaching Endorsement: Yes - teachers with the following endorsements may teach journalism courses: English 6-12 and Journalism 6-12.
  • Pass state assessment or certification test/s (tests needed): Praxis II English Language, Literature, and Composition: Content Knowledge (0041) exam.
  • NCATE or National Accreditation required: Yes - To add a Journalism 6-12 endorsement, program completion from an NCATE or regionally accredited program is required. However, to add the English 6-12 endorsement, an applicant may either complete an NCATE or regionally accredited program or complete our alternative route to adding endorsements (Demonstration of Competency), which requires 27 semester credit hours in the content area from an NCATE or regionally accredited institution and a passing score of 163 or higher on the Praxis II English Language, Literature, and Composition: Content Knowledge (0041) exam.
  • Accepts candidates from states participating in the NASDTEC Interstate Contract: Wyoming DOES belong to the NASDTEC Interstate Contract (Teachers, Administrators and Vocational Educators) and maintains direct reciprocity agreements with 19 states. Out-of-state certificates will be recognized if they are current and comparable to a Wyoming certificate.
