Cheating Lessons: Learning from Academic Dishonesty

Moulton Hall Ballroom

The workshop will take place in Moulton Hall Ballroom from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

James Lang presents this workshop when students engage in academically dishonest behaviors, they may be responding to subtle pressures in the learning environment that interfere with deep learning and nudge them toward cheating. Hence if we gain a better understanding of the reasons for academically dishonest behavior, we can use that knowledge to improve our course design, teaching practices, and communication with students. This session will present an overview of that research and foster a conversation about how best to promote academic integrity at Kent State.

Lunch will be served between morning and afternoon sessions on September 22, 2017, 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
