Hours
The Materials & Processes lab comprises two Ajax Tocco induction heating and melting furnaces, Tinker Omega sand mixer, welding stations, CNC, injection mold, router, lathes, drill presses, hand tools, and more. Students enrolled in the engineering programs are required to take the materials and process lecture/lab course, where they rotate through six different labs so they acquire valuable hands-on experience related to the material covered in lecture. Cast metals, manufacturing technology, aeronautics structures and foundry tooling and pattern making courses are also held in the lab. The student chapter of the American Foundry Society (AFS) meets at least once a week in the lab. Other events such as our annual alumni pour, middle school/high school summer camps and visiting Boy Scouts (working on merit badges) also take place in the lab.
Equipment, Features and Services
The facilities house a small foundry, welding equipment, router, machine shop equipment (lathes, drill presses, band saw, hand tool, etc.).
